With a love of the great outdoors, it’s no surprise that Alison Elder and her family love living in the Truckee-Tahoe area. Like most real estate professionals, Alison took quite a circuitous route to get there …
“It took a while, but I finally transitioned from the fast-paced corporate world to a much more family-oriented lifestyle working in real estate,” said Elder, who was determined to raise her kids off the concrete.

Gratefully Giving Back and Family Focused.
Participating in and donating to local philanthropies continues to be the core of Alison’s family lifestyle. The Elder family is well known for its community involvement and their family Foundation to support numerous non-profit organizations.
Nearest to her heart is her family’s involvement and support of the prestigious Gene Upshaw Memorial Tahoe Forest Cancer Center and the Best of Tahoe Chef’s – supporting Tahoe Forest Health System’s cancer patient psycho-social programs. The Elders also support many local programs through the Tahoe-Truckee Community Foundation. Alison launched and chaired the Girls Giving Back program for the Tahoe-Truckee Community Foundation for many years until their daughter moved on to college and actively supports this program today. Other organizations near and dear to the Elder family include Excellence in Education, Girls on the Run, Tahoe Food Hub, Martis Area Preservation, Friends of the Truckee Library, Truckee Rotary, Tahoe-Truckee Humane Society and many more. Elder Group Tahoe is also a member of the Truckee Chamber of Commerce.
Alison is happily married for over 30 years to her business partner, Desmond. Together, they have two children, Andrew and Angela, who graduated from Sugar Bowl Academy and are accomplished Alpine ski racers. Both continue to share their passion for skiing competitively and recreationally while studying at universities in Colorado. Andrew is double-majoring in Land and Energy Management and Business Management at Colorado Mesa University and plans to attend Colorado School of Mines for his Master’s Degree. Andrew is a 2018 and 2019 All-American collegiate ski racer and now skiing recreationally. Angela is studying Art History, Communication Studies and Sociology, heading abroad for her Master’s degree in Art History. Angela competed for CU Boulder on the USCSA Alpine Ski Team and is now retired from racing and is an avid backcountry skier.
The Elder family enjoys spending quality time together skiing, biking, hiking, scuba diving and traveling. When Alison and Desmond take a break from Elder Group business activities, rest assured they are with their children enjoying an adventure!
