Now you are on your way! Ride your bike along the Historic Truckee River Bike Path as far as you’d like north or south along the Truckee River. If you time it right, don’t miss the River Ranch restaurant to complement your day overlooking the river – day and night!
Truckee River Legacy Bike Trail
This shared use path is becoming one of the more popular trails for cruiser and E-bikes, and with good reason. The trail runs parallel to the Truckee River where there are plenty of places to pull over and watch the river run by. As it starts at the Truckee River Regional Park, there are restrooms, picnic tables, and water fountains to fill up your bottles before you hit the trail.
At the end of your ride, bike on over to with your family and friends to Blue Coyote Bar and Grill. This ‘locals’ favorite’ restaurant is famous for its “Wings of Fire” and “The Cowie” ~ a super tasty sandwich of tri-tip topped with mango habanera sauce, sautéed onions, green chilis and pepperjack cheese.
Take A Tour Through Tahoe Donner
With 3,474 acres of open and maintained trails and terrain, you could spend the entire summer and into the fall season at Tahoe Donner. As their website appropriately notes:
“The Tahoe Donner Trail System is the ultimate playground for hikers, trail runners, mountain bikers and equestrians with more than 60 miles of trails and fire access service roads. With thousands of users, horses and dogs included, it is important that we all work together and observe basic trail rules and etiquette to keep the backcountry safe and enjoyable for everyone.”
Class 1 E-bikes are allowed on Tahoe Donner fire access roads and doubletrack. Cruisers and mountain bikes can access any of the developed trails.
And when it’s time to fill the void after a safe and sunny ride, stop in at the Alder Creek Café. We highly recommend their Bison Burger and super healthy Vege Panini with Portobello mushrooms, red bell pepper, zucchini, Swiss cheese, Jalapeño Aioli and arugula stuffed inside homemade whole-Grain bread.
Make It A Lake Date
No matter how many bike rides you accomplish this year, don’t let 2022 end without a leisurely trek along the west side of the Lake. There are 10 miles that meander along the shoreline from Tahoe City all the way to Sugar Pine State Park. As you enjoy the sights of the Lake’s crystal-clear water, you can do the whole trail which wanders through the communities of Tahoe Tavern, Sunnyside, Pineland, Timberland, Tahoe Pines, Homewood and others.
Here’s the tip: It’s worth the trip to bike all the way to Chambers Landing Bar & Grille where their famous “Chamber’s Punch” is a perfect way to celebrate your day.
Chambers Landing is the oldest bar on the water in Lake Tahoe. With history dating back to almost a century, this iconic location has been part of the West Shore community for a long time and is an unforgettable spot to spend the end of the summer with family and friends.
