For the next few weeks we’re going to focus on all of the great new commercial and commerce improvements that have either just been completed or are well on their way to enhancing the lifestyle and value of real estate around the Lake Tahoe / Truckee region.
Just this past November, we had a ribbon cutting ceremony for our first electric vehicle charging stations in Truckee. One is located at the Train Depot across from some of our favorite restaurants and boutiques in Truckee and the other is located at the Pioneer Commerce Center just north of the Interstate 80 interchange. Both have two “Level 2” charging stations for what are officially called PEV’s – Plug-In Electric Vehicles”.
According to Bob Ellis, the board president of the Truckee Donner Public Utility District, (TDPUD) the greater Truckee area has seen a dramatic increase in PEV’s over the past few years. This trend is driven by our town’s convenient location just off Interstate 80.
The interest in PEV’s runs parallel to our community’s deep dedication to continue to review our ecological footprint and the impacts that development may have on our future. Thanks to organizations like the TDPUD, Town of Truckee and many of the regional preservation organizations in and around Lake Tahoe, we are poised for well balanced commercial developments that have our treasured clear skies, crystal streams and lakes in mind.
