Top Resolutions for a Fun and Healthy Truckee-Tahoe Winter Ahead

With the start of a new year comes endless opportunities to enjoy a new you in the great outdoors. And thanks to the recent snowfall, Truckee-Tahoe is a winter wonderland of inspiration.

From its snow-capped peaks to frosty forest trails and everywhere in between, there are super fun ways to get your new year in gear throughout the Sierra. Highlights of our list of resolutions include trying out the sport of Fat Biking, taking “Women of Winter” ski clinics, experiencing the Stifel World Cup Race at Palisades Tahoe, and spending more quality time with our pups in the snow!

See A World Cup Race

Fine Tune Your Turns

With a new year comes a new opportunity for women to improve their passion for the sport of skiing. At Palisades’ Tahoe and Alpine, they host their Women of Winter clinics throughout the season. During these personal workshops for women of all abilities, participants learn how to confidently ski the terrain at their chosen levels. Their description of what you will experience includes their informative list below:

Get tactical trips from women instructors to maximize your ski experience
Develop skills and techniques designed for women to enhance all-mountain skiing
Gain the confidence to explore our legendary terrain
Get priority lift line access which means more time on the slopes

Snow Bike the Sierra

If you have yet to try snow biking, this is the time to do so!

First, watch this video about snow biking in and around Truckee/Lake Tahoe which was produced by the North Lake Tahoe Resort Association.

Then, make plans to enjoy tons of fun while the snowpack offers easy and “scenery-spectacular” snow biking trails for the novice to the most advanced. Our favorite trail is the old 06 Forest Service Road / Sawtooth Trail which takes you up Mt. Watson and into Tahoe City.

Find Family Time in the Forest

An exhilarating day of snowshoeing throughout the Truckee and Tahoe region reminds us how fortunate we are to live in a mountain town. One of our favorite spots to snowshoe is the Glacier Way Access Trail in Tahoe Donner. Other options on our list include Coldstream Canyon and Donner Lake Memorial Park. For more snowshoe trails within the region, visit AllTrails.com for some of the best spots to enjoy the scenery throughout the Sierra.

Put Aside Playtime with Your Pups

When you live in Truckee-Tahoe, it’s a doggone-friendly world no matter what the season may hold. And in the wintertime, with 22+ miles of scenic paved and plowed trails, there’s no reason this season not to take your pups out into our winter wonderland.

Dogs are so important to our lifestyle that there are some super resources focused on your four-legged friends.
