Palisades Tahoe
Internationally renowned beginning with the 1960 Winter Olympic Games, Palisades Tahoe (formerly Squaw Valley) is considered one of North America’s best ski resorts. In 2011, Palisades and Alpine joined forces, with the resort now spanning two mountains and over 6,000 skiable acres. Access either mountain on the free shuttle that goes back and forth all day long! Delight in a variety of terrain for all levels, with 42 lifts and 270 trails to satiate your skiing appetite. Palisades also offers one of the longest ski seasons in Lake Tahoe, making it a very popular spring skiing location. Northstar Ski Resort
Offering lodging, rentals, and lessons, Northstar Ski Resort is a one stop shop for all things Winter fun! With 19 lifts, 100 trails, 3,170 skiable acres and the largest snowmaking system in North Lake Tahoe, Northstar provides a one-of-a-kind ski experience. The longest run on the mountain spans an extensive 14 miles. You can find lift tickets here! Donner Ski Ranch
Great for family fun, Donner Ski Ranch is one of the last independently owned and operated ski resorts in the Truckee-Tahoe area. For the last 80+ years, Donner Ski Ranch has been a top Lake Tahoe ski destination for families and offers front and backside terrain, with more than 500 acres and sweeping views. Sugar Bowl Resort
Known as one of Lake Tahoe’s oldest ski resorts, Sugar Bowl offers 102 trails and is conveniently located 10 miles west of Truckee. With more than 13 lifts, you are sure to get where you need to go. There are many mountain amenity options, some of which include back country tours, private lessons, and group lessons for both skiing and snowboarding. Tahoe Donner Ski Resort
With a total of 14 trails, the Tahoe Donner Downhill Ski resort is open every day from 9am to 4pm. Known for being “the best place to begin,” this spot is great to bring the little ones just starting out. With 17 runs over 120 skiable acres, accessed by 3 conveyor lifts (perfect for beginners) and 2 chair lifts, it is the perfect place to spend a fun, leisurely afternoon skiing with the family. You can also practice your jumps and tricks at one of the terrain parks, featuring ramps, jibs, rails, boxes, jumps and more!
Spanning over 2,800 acres of the incredible Sierra Nevada Mountains, the Tahoe Donner Cross Country and Back Country Ski Center is a must-experience, world-class adventure for avid and novice skiers alike. Locals have voted this area as the Best of North Lake Tahoe & Truckee 6 years in a row, and it was also voted by USA Today as one of the Top 10 Best Cross Country Ski Resorts in North America. The trails are groomed daily for classic and skate skiing and snowshoeing, and this center also features 7 km of dog friendly trails!
