As a way to encourage tourism in March, and for locals and vacationers to come together in celebration of snow sports, SnowFest! was born in 1982; a beloved Lake Tahoe winter carnival running ten days long. With Spring Break coming soon for many families, this is a new family adventure, close for Bay Area based families.
There is no question why the average snowfall of 300-500 inches a year draws thousands to this area. But did you know in the early 1980’s, many skiers flocked to Lake Tahoe primarily during the months of December to February? Today we know March, from the bluebird winter to budding of spring, as a fantastic time to enjoy the incredible weather and mountain snow pack!
