Carnelian Bay & Agate Bay
In 1860, Carnelian Bay was founded as “Cornelian Bay” after a Chalcedony (a semi-precious stone) was found on its shoreline. You may not find Chalcedony today, but you will discover some well-kept recreation facilities in its place. Throughout the region, you can spend endless quality time strolling its soft pebble shoreline, paddle boarding and kayaking the clear blue waters of Lake Tahoe, or hiking and biking through its varied neighborhoods.
Boating enthusiasts, in particular, appreciate all the first-class services offered through Sierra Boat Company, which has called Carnelian Bay home for generations. This full-service marina specializes in restoring classic wooden boats and offers slip rentals, boat sales, boat rentals, fishing charters, and more.
Carnelian Bay
Although the Carnelian Bay community is small, it offers a wide selection of real estate, ranging from classic ski cabins to some of the region’s most luxurious lakefront estates.
The neighborhood of Cedar Flat was once a summer home tract with ‘Old World’ Tahoe-style chalets and cabins set in the hills above Lake Tahoe. Many have been completely remodeled yet retained their expansive and breathtaking views of Lake Tahoe. Whether you invest in an expansive lakefront home or rest high in the trees of Cedar Flats, Carnelian Bay awaits your desire to call this north shore community “home sweet home.”
Agate Bay
Nestled along the northwestern edge of Lake Tahoe is the quaint community of Agate Bay. The center of attention is, without question, the popular Agate Bay Sun Club. Its fee-based organization offers a variety of facilities only available to local property owners and includes access to a private pier, swimming pool, volleyball court, and tennis courts.
Real estate options range from classic old log cabins to some of the most magnificent vacation escapes, all with spectacular views of Lake Tahoe and the surrounding High Sierra.
