There’s a new spirit in the air this month as Mother Nature made a much-welcomed visit to the High Sierra.Local pro forecasters have recapped the notable stats which all are delighted to see – especially in mid-October.
A foot, yes a foot, of rain fell at Alpine Meadows, and once the sun appeared, we saw a 3 ½ inch rise in the lake level. All good news indeed. According to history, we only need 2.36 more inches of rain to the wettest October on record – and are currently running at the 3rd highest in precipitation behind 1982 and 2010.
The greatest amount of snow measured at Mt. Rose with 6” on top with other resorts recording varying quantiles of the white stuff. Just one look around the edge of the Sierra and one can’t miss the snow-top mountains that wrap around the beautiful environment in which we are so fortunate to live.
Ski resorts are ramping up as we speak and there are plenty of jobs to be found. If you have ever dreamed of working at a resort or have kids at home that may just want to spend the winter in Truckee/Tahoe for a change, all of the resort have job postings at this time on their websites.
