Make your plans to attend the annual Truckee Rodeo August 25- 26. It’s all about keeping Truckee’s western heritage alive, and it’s a must-do “for in-laws, outlaws and family, too”!
This annual event is held every August at the Jim McIver Rodeo Arena next to the Truckee Regional Park. You don’t need to be a rodeo fan to enjoy all the festivities that showcase talented animals and athletes throughout the weekend – it’s a lot of fun with a great old town vibe!

Lake Tahoe Open Water Swim
Sugar Pine Point State Park
“The Lake Tahoe Open Water Swim is a celebration of the natural environment of the Tahoe region featuring the beautiful, clear and clean water of Lake Tahoe and the white sand beaches of California’s Ed’ZBerg Sugar Pine State Park.”
It’s a ‘come one, come all’ event that offers a ½ mile, 1.2 mile and 2.4-mile course just off the sandy shores of Sugar Pine Park. Spectators can set up chairs along the shoreline of the Ehrman Mansion to enjoy the views and cheer on the athletes as they cross the finish line.
Lederhosen 5K
Tahoe City, California
The entry fee includes an official Oktoberfest event t-shirt, custom beer stein and beer tokens (for ages 21+ ) and prizes for the “best dressed’ participants in their Lederhosen and Dirndl.
Following the casual race, everyone can enjoy music, food and beverages as you toast into the colorful fall season in Truckee-Tahoe.
