Truckee River Day & Fair
Sunday, October 16, 2022
Fall Events in Truckee
Be part of what started it all … back in 1996. That is when the first Truckee River Day was created by the Truckee River Watershed Council. Since then, locals and visitors alike have volunteered their time, talent and treasures to help restore the river’s watershed. With boots, buckets and shovels in hand, hundreds have come out to participate in a full day of fun (often in the warmth of the Sierra sun).
Here are some highlights from the website where you can register and learn more about what’s to come.
You will be working side-by-side with other volunteers to restore the watershed, protect sensitive areas, plant native vegetation, and more. Through the registration process, you will let us know your project preferences and if you are a part of a group. We will email you about your project – the work you will be doing, where you will meet, and what you need to wear and bring.
Later in the day, you are invited to the Truckee River Day Fair at Granite Flat Campground from 1pm to 4pm to celebrate the Truckee River! All are welcome – even if you didn’t participate in the restoration projects. Come ready to have some fun – live entertainment, environmental education activities, art projects and more! Granite Flat is located one mile south of Truckee on Highway 89
Big Truck Day
Saturday, October 22, 2022
Town Corp Yard, Stockrest Springs Road
You don’t have to be a kid to participate in Big Truck Day at Tahoe Donner’s Town Corp Yard. In fact, we have heard that it’s the older folks who enjoy the equipment display more than most! You will be up-close and personal as you view the heavy-duty trucks, plows and more that keep our roads cleared and repaired throughout the year.
Fan of helicopters? Don’t miss this one as the CHP will be on-site to give personal tours of their equipment as well.
Bring your cameras to pose with Smokey the Bear and other critters from the Town of Truckee Humane Society and Animal Shelter.
Got a big truck or rig at home or at your business? Contact the organizers now to confirm your own display by calling (530) 550-4454. Any shape, size or age are welcome.
