Over on the west end of Donner Pass Road is a top spot to get into the spirit of St. Patty’s. Head to The Pub at Donner Lake to sample their superior selection of brews, and food, too! With six full-time taps, the latest in draft beers, their popular beer can promotion, and a full bar, you will be sure to find something festive for your next toast to all that is good in life. Plan to make a night of it as the food is just as flavorful. Serving “Elevated Pub Fair,” there is always something new to savor as you sip a cold one or two.
Promoting their enterprise as a “pico” (smaller than nano) brewery in Truckee, Donner Creek Brewing offers a smaller selection of in-house brews on tap as well as a few other local favorites and a stellar selection of beers and wines to go.
Although they are well known for their beer, and pet-friendly patio, their delicious gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches is just as famous for a quick bite to have with your brew.
As their website prominently promotes
CEAD MILE FAILTE! (A Hundred Thousand Welcomes!)
Located in the Village at Squaw, this must be one of the top spots to tip a brew or two and enjoy some great dining too! Known locally as “The Dub,” this establishment was “created to bring the spirit of a traditional Irish pub to the beautiful Sierra Mountains of California.”
As one would expect from its name, they offer classic Irish dishes along with a long list of American favorites as well. We always enjoy their famous brats with a cold one after a sunny day of spring skiing and boarding at Squaw.
