FIREWORKS July 3rd!
The Kings Beach July 3rd fireworks celebration and deck party is a North Tahoe tradition hosted by the North Tahoe Business Association. The show starts at dusk, approximately at 9:30 p.m. on July 3rd in downtown Kings Beach. The fireworks can be viewed for free from the one-quarter mile of public sandy beach, as well as from other venues along the North Shore and from boats on the water.
Truckee and Donner Lake
Truckee’s 4th of July parade is a true local’s favorite. The picturesque, old fashioned parade is complete with the legendary Wells Fargo stagecoach, Smokey Bear, hometown floats, marching bands and equestrian groups. The parade starts at 10 a.m. at the Tahoe Truckee Unified School District parking lot at the west end of town. The route continues 1.5 miles ending in historic, downtown Truckee around noon.
The Truckee Fourth of July Fireworks is scheduled for July 4 at West End Beach at Donner Lake at dusk. Tickets are $6 per person (in advance only) available through the Truckee Donner Recreation & Park District – you must be a Truckee resident or attend with friends.
Tahoe City celebrates 67 years of fireworks at Commons Beach at 9:30pm July 4th. This event is free and well attended by families, many of whom bring picnic baskets and lawn chairs to make an evening of the festivities. And, fireworks from your boat are something special!
Incline Village really takes things to the next level with their traditional Red, White & Tahoe Blue festivities scheduled through July 7th which includes opening ceremonies with a tribute to veterans, a patriotic chalk drawing contest, Tahoe Firecracker Trail Trek, flag raising, and USAF California Air National Guard Static Display. Incline’s fireworks show is on July 4th at 9:30 p.m. off Incline Beach.
South Lake Tahoe
NBC’s Today Show recognizes Tahoe South’s Lights on the Lake Fireworks display as one of the country’s top Fourth of July weekend celebrations. The American Pyrotechnics Association rates South Shore’s spectacular Fourth of July fireworks celebration one of the top five displays in the nation. The show is scheduled to begin at 9:45 PM. The fireworks are visible from all over town. Below are some of the sweet spots to get a front row seat.
The Tahoe Queen and M.S. Dixie II: South Shore’s two Mississippi paddle wheelers offer a unique opportunity to view the light show from the water. Board the Tahoe Queen for a Dinner Dance Cruise or the M.S. Dixie II for a Fireworks Cruise. Both feature live entertainment and fantastic views of the evening’s display. Nevada Beach: Located about two miles east of the Nevada casinos on Elk Point Road, Nevada Beach is the ideal setting for a family barbecue at the beach. A wide, sandy shoreline leads down to the sapphire waters of Lake Tahoe. Charcoal barbecues and picnic tables dot the beach. The view across the lake to the West Shore and Desolation Wilderness is unsurpassed. And the view of the fireworks display is one of the best in town.
The Tallac Historic Site: Off Emerald Bay Road, has an east-view perspective with nearby Baldwin Beach. For the more adventurous, the top of Mount Tallac offers a bird’s eye view of the fireworks extravaganza, but don’t forget your headlamp for the trek back down.
Edgewood-Tahoe: Watch the fireworks show front and center from the beach to the south of Edgewood Tahoe’s clubhouse. EdgewoodTahoe.com
