Truckee-Tahoe is famous for its 4th Of July festivities and Tahoe is the place to be! There are so many great things to do with the family. Come on up and join the almost upon us FUN! Summer is indeed here! Take a look at the fabulous events over the next few days:
FIREWORKS TONIGHT!
The Kings Beach July 3, fireworks celebration and deck party is a North Tahoe tradition hosted by the North Tahoe Business Association year after year. The show starts at dusk, approximately 9:30 p.m. on July 3, in downtown Kings Beach. The fireworks can be viewed for free from the one-quarter mile of public sandy beach, as well as from other venues along the North Shore and from boats on the water.
Truckee and Donner Lake
Norman Rockwell would be proud of Truckee’s Fourth of July Parade, which winds down Donner Pass Road from the old Sierra Mountain Middle School through historic downtown Truckee. The event is a true local’s favorite that is not to be missed. The picturesque pageant is complete with Smokey Bear, hometown floats, marching bands and equestrian groups. Truckee Fourth of July Parade, Donner Pass Road, 10 a.m. Enjoy an old-fashioned hometown parade ending up in historic downtown Truckee.
The Truckee Fourth of July Fireworks is scheduled for July 4 at West End Beach at Donner Lake at dusk. Tickets are $6 per person (in advance only) available through the Truckee Donner Recreation & Park District – you must be a Truckee resident or attend with friends.
Tahoe City celebrates 66 years of fireworks at Commons Beach at 9:30pm July 4th. This event is free and well attended by families, many of whom bring picnic baskets and lawn chairs to make an evening of the festivities. And, fireworks from your boat are something special!
Incline Village really takes things to the next level with their traditional Red, White & Tahoe Blue festivities scheduled through July 7 which includes patriotic chalk drawing contest, opening ceremonies with a tribute to veterans, Tahoe Firecracker Trail Trek, flag raising, USAF California Air National Guard Static Display and fireworks July 4 at 9:30 p.m. off Incline Beach.
South Lake Tahoe
NBC’s Today show recognizes Tahoe South’s Lights on the Lake Fireworks display as one of the country’s top Fourth of July weekend Celebrations. The American Pyrotechnics Association rates South Shore’s spectacular Fourth of July fireworks celebration one of the top five displays in the nation. The show is scheduled to begin at 9:45 PM. The fireworks are visible from all over town. Below are some of the sweet spots to get a front row seat.
The Tahoe Queen and M.S. Dixie II: South Shore’s two Mississippi paddle wheelers offer a unique opportunity to view the light show from the water. Board the Tahoe Queen for a Dinner Dance Cruise or the M.S. Dixie II for a Fireworks Cruise. Both feature live entertainment and fantastic views of the evening’s display. Nevada Beach: Located about two miles east of the Nevada casinos on Elk Point Road, Nevada Beach is the ideal setting for a family barbecue at the beach. A wide, sandy shoreline leads down to the sapphire waters of Lake Tahoe. Charcoal barbecues and picnic tables dot the beach. The view across the lake to the West Shore and Desolation Wilderness is unsurpassed. And the view of the fireworks display is one of the best in town.
Bijou Community Park: Set back from the shoreline and boasts a skate park, disc golf course, dog park, golf course, and playground to keep the whole family entertained while holding your ideal viewing spot
The Tallac Historic Site: Off Emerald Bay Road, has an east-view perspective with nearby Baldwin Beach. For the more adventurous, the top of Mount Tallac offers a bird’s eye view of the fireworks extravaganza, but don’t forget your headlamp for the trek back down.
