I rarely write testimonials, but in this case, I’ll make an exception because without Alison and her team we would not have been able to purchase our newly constructed lakefront home on the West Shore. By way of background, I was a residential developer earlier in my career and I’ve dealt with many brokers over the years. Alison represented us by a) selling our Tahoe west shore lakefront condo and b) purchasing a new west shore lakefront home. In 2021, we closed both transactions within 120 days of listing our condo for sale and closing the purchase of our new lakefront home on the West Shore. Unlike many qualified Tahoe real estate brokers, Alison isn’t afraid to tell you what you need to do to sell a property. In our case, we had previously listed our lakefront condo and had limited interest from Buyers. After generating only one offer in six months, we switched our listing to Alison. At her recommendation, we spent $20,000 and updated our lakefront condo from Tahoe cabin style to Tahoe Mountain modern style with new hardwood floors, new painting, and stagged the property with mountain modern furniture. Within 2 days after putting the property back on the market, we had a full price, all cash offer that closed in 20 days. Concurrently, we retained Alison to represent us regarding a new lakefront property that we wanted to buy. This lakefront property was brand new and a) it didn’t have a certificate of occupancy and b) there were buoy and CC&R issues that needed to be resolved. Alison was able to help us get the buoy and CC&R issues resolved in a timely manner which enabled us the make a competitive offer which was accepted by the Seller. Last, but not least, Alison has a very competent and buttoned up team including Mari, who handles contract issues in a manner that helps keep the Buyer and Seller on the same page to move a deal forward. Also, Alison has an impressive team of contractors (Miguel) and movers that quickly get things done, even during Covid. The Bottom Line: if you want to sell or buy Lake Tahoe homes and get deals done by a professional, then I highly recommend that you retain Alison and her team. Alison and her team is absolutely the “A” Team! From day one to the end of the escrow they were in sync and it was a pleasure to work with all of them. It’s the small things, like when you try and get ahold of someone and always have to leave a message, not with Alison Elder Group, they will either take your call or return the call within minutes. I typically never write a review unless it is exceptionally good or exceptionally bad because let’s be honest, who has time for it? I have been working in the real estate industry for 15 years and I have never come across a real estate broker as talented and committed as Alison. First of all, my husband and I had very different ideas about what we were looking for in our second home. It got to the point that we were about to give up on our search…but Alison immediately saw the discrepancy and re-directed our search toward houses that would satisfy both my husband and I. I can’t say enough good things about Alison and her team. I am an experienced real estate developer of twenty five years and have extensive knowledge of the process. We bought our first home in Truckee last spring. Alison represented both sides of the transaction and was totally professional throughout the process. The price of the home was a bit of a stretch for us at the time. She actually made a concession on her commission with the seller to make the deal happen. Alison Elder is exactly who you need if you are purchasing a home, whether first, second, vacation, rental or investment, whether on a tight budget or with greater flexibility. Although we weren’t really in a rush to find our perfect second home, Alison found it for us in a weekend. In the second half of 2010 the real estate market had taken a tumble and it seemed like a good time to step in and find a deal.
