With the Sierra snow pack in great shape, we thought we’d continue our March blogs to bring you other great ways to enjoy the great outdoors – without being attached to a ski pass … and surrounded by hundreds of people you don’t know!
Watch this video about the beauty of backcountry skiing at Lake Tahoe and in and around the High Sierra.
Then, put a new sport on your Bucket List today and make plans to get out and explore all that there is to see and do throughout the Lake Tahoe and Truckee region this spring … and perhaps long into the summer months as well. During winter seasons like we have experienced this year, the months of May, June and even July are expected to offer sunshine days and velvet slopes with ‘corn snow’ conditions; all combined, it’s worth your time to put this sport of backcountry skiing at Lake Tahoe on your list of ‘must dos’ this spring.
With mountains rising from every side of Tahoe’s cobalt waters, alongside the crystal clear Truckee River, and snow packs averaging (in normal years) 400” or more, it is no wonder that winter enthusiasts in particular have come into our real estate office in Truckee for advice on where the locals go to escape – off of the slopes -and onto the untracked snow.
Our friends who are avid backcountry skiers tell us that there are few places on the plant that can match the ease of access, let alone the incredible views and tranquil terrain ,that come with backcountry skiing here in the heart of the High Sierra.
Perhaps those reasons alone are why this sport continues to draw locals and visitors from around the world to our pristine community of Truckee that we call home!
For an insider’s report, our team at Elder Group Tahoe Real Estate welcomes every opportunity to help you get into the sport and the outskirts of town to experience a whole new life exploring our very special “backyard’.
