Here’s a Jeopardy Question – What Does El Niño mean to the Truckee-Tahoe Region?
North of the California and Oregon border up into Canada and the Pacific Northwest region, the prediction is for warmer temperatures and lower precipitation. From Southern California into Mexico, the prediction is for wetter and colder temperatures.
As for the rest of the West, we encourage you to take a look at Palisades Tahoe’s “Winter Forecast” maps and charts. In a nutshell, here’s their read:
“5 out of the 10 (50%) of the El Niño seasons produced above-median precipitation near Palisades Tahoe as of May 31.”
