It’s Springtime and Easter Time in Truckee-Tahoe

There’s a reason Truckee-Tahoe is known as the “Spring Skiing Capital of America” – sun and of course – snow. Fortunately, there are plenty of days ahead to take advantage of one of the snowiest years on record.
And, with Easter around the corner there are ‘must-not-miss’ events including the celebration of Northstar’s 50th Anniversary! See all the details below!
As the snow gives way to warmer temperatures, we welcome the opportunity to show you exceptional new lots and listings for sale that are perfect for those family vacations and year-round escapes. Northstar California 50th Anniversary
What an “EPIC” History
April 8 – 9, 2023
Northstar is celebrating its 50th Anniversary in 2023, so come on up and enjoy the fun! But first, a little recap of the resort’s long and prestigious history.
What started as a former lumber site owned by the Douglas Lumber Company of Truckee, the Northstar land was purchased by Fibreboard in 1967. The acreage at the time was called Timber Farm yet was rebranded as Northstar-at-Tahoe when the ski resort opened with five chair lifts in December 1972. Its ‘family-friendly’ slopes were initially designed by Luggi Foeger, an icon in the ski business (among many other talents) who designed several of the resorts around Lake Tahoe. The resort changed owners over the past few decades and is now owned and operated by Vail Resort and considered an international destination year ‘round!
And now, the party! On Easter weekend, April 8 – 9, 2023, our friends at Northstar invite you to join them for a “groovy spring weekend!” Their website notes that you should turn back time with them and dress the part in your retro ski duds. They have planned two days of festivities, highlighted by their Pond Skim and Rail Jam. Registration is onsite both days, and they are promising “the warmest pool weather possible.” Spring in Truckee-Tahoe is one that is not to be missed.

Calling all ski tourers and split boarders– rack up as many human-powered laps to the top of Lincoln as you can in a day, all without the help of a chairlift. You can skin for the win or just skin for fun; all uphillers are welcome at this event where costumes are recommended!
Banked Slalom
April 8, 2023
The mountain team creates the course for Banked Slalom just once a year, and their time is worth every turn. The curvy and creative course weaves down and around River Run Gully off the Judah Express Lift. After the race, be sure to stick around for the festivities on the Judah Deck.
Easter Keg and Golden Egg Hunt
