Tahoe Donner
In the theme of ‘keeping the money on the mountain,’ here is another excellent option for your gift giving list this year while shopping local. Soroptimist of Truckee Donner is continuing its tradition of hosting the Soroptishop Holiday Artisan Faire.
A new twist to this event is its ‘hybrid’ concept. On Thursday the 17th, you can attend the event in person at the Truckee Donor Recreation Department. If you cannot make it, or live out of town, no worries. They are developing an on-line auction option that will showcase a creative selection of things that may be the ideal gift for family and friends.
If you have something you would like to donate, and a website with a shopping cart concept, the Soroptimists want to talk to you! Contact them through this link.
All vendor participants will receive broad marketing and publicity through person to person, social media, and their large customer base.
Holiday Tree Lighting
Downtown Truckee
November 18, 2022
For the last 45 years, the Truckee Downtown Merchants Association and Truckee Rotary have hosted the “Bud Fish Lighting Ceremony.” In addition to the much anticipated ‘lighting of the tree,’ the town’s trees are decorated by our community’s elementary school children and the Association provides holiday lights throughout town. Adding to the festivities, Santa makes his appearance and there’s plenty of hot cocoa for all.
Who is Bud Fish? He was a long time Truckee resident, charter Rotary member and a forester who provided Truckee with a beautiful Christmas tree-for many years. When he died of cancer, the Rotary began providing the tree as a tribute to him.
