Summer is in full swing throughout the High Sierra! And one of the best assets that comes with living and working above 6,200’ is PLAYING in the lakes and on the rivers in Truckee-Tahoe. In this issue of E-News, we’re sharing some of our favorite spots to keep cool throughout the heat of summer and into the glorious fall season as well. Now is the time to unplug and plug in to the crystal-clear waters of Lake Tahoe and the surrounding lakes and streams.
Start Your Morning with A Sierra Sunrise
Just one morning is all it takes to keep you coming back to see the sunrise over a lake. Gone are the texts, emails, podcasts and endless posts that can wait until you so choose to plug back in. This is your time, time to reflect on what it means to truly unplug. From the sandy shores of Lake Tahoe to the forested edge of Donner Lake’s public piers and beyond, there’s a sunrise that is sure to start your day off right.
Jump in The Lake!
You don’t have to be a kid to randomly have the urge to jump into the clear and cool waters off some of the rocks that wrap around our lakes your favorite pier. Just jump!
On the north side of Donner Lake you will find 37 piers that welcome residents and visitors alike. No reservation is necessary; go early and set up on your favorite pier, most of which have space for a good-sized family.
For those a little more adventurous, there are some really cool places to jump off a rock in Tahoe. Thirty minutes from Donner Lake is an area called Emerald Pools. It’s a little tricky to find yet ideal for beginners to the most adventurous. Here’s the trick to finding Emerald Pools. On the West Shore of Lake Tahoe is Rooster Rock which can only be accessed via boat. It’s by far one of the prettiest spots as the rock juts out of some of the deepest water in the Lake. Look for the rock (it really does look like a Rooster!) just north of Emerald Bay.
Rent a Boat – Explore Lake Tahoe
There is no better way to enjoy a lake, than to be ON a lake. The North Shore region offers several boat rental agencies that provide a variety of services. Among one of the best is Rent a Boat Lake Tahoe. They pride themselves on offering the most dependable and cleanest boats on the Lake.
