Stella — Farmer’s Market Cooking School with Chef Jacob Burton
Farmer’s markets are one of the best resources for chefs and foodies alike to purchase produce and artisan ingredients the season and community have to offer. If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by the selection and shear number of items available, you’re not alone. To get the most out of a farmer’s market, you must approach the selection process with an open mind, letting the ingredients dictate what you will be cooking, not a singular recipe. In this class, The Cedar House and Stella Restaurant Executive Chef Jacob Burton will lead a guided tour through the Truckee Farmer’s Market, discussing strategies for picking the freshest produce at the peak of its season. Once the produce is selected, accompany Chef Jacob back to the Stella kitchen where you’ll take part in designing and preparing a unique lunch menu, which you will then sit down and enjoy, Aug. 21, 9 a.m., $85 per person plus tax, limited class size. Meet at Stella, visit Farmers Market. Return to Stella for group cooking class. Estimated finish time is 1 p.m. For reservations call 530-582-565 or visit www.cedarhousesporthotel.com.
