Historical Haunted Tour of Truckee
This is a fun idea for a group or corporate outing. It’s the Historical Haunted Tour of Truckee which sells out every year. And with good reason. There might not be any other experience like this throughout the High Sierra and beyond. Here’s how they describe what awaits you and yours:
“Each year the highly anticipated performances take place in new featured haunts. Our scriptwriter, Cayman Levonian, has skillfully weaved together dramatic hauntings and downright funny stories inspired by times of yore. The Historic Tour is complete with treats and tricks…your VIP group will be thoroughly entertained, occasionally harassed and sometimes doted upon.”
This VIP tour is produced by Trails & Vistas (a local non-profit) and benefits the arts and culture of Truckee Tahoe, including the Art in Nature Dreaming Tree Field Trips for local 3rd-grade students.

Homewood Mountain Resort
This is a 100% family fun event that you don’t want to miss! Leave it to the creative crew at one of our favorite Lake Tahoe ski resorts to take advantage of the season in such a creative way. It’s the Halloweekend at Homewood, and it’s a perfect place to celebrate the season – before the ski season!
Their website tells it best:
“Join us for a peak-to-shore fright-fest featuring spooky fun for the whole family. Take a stroll through the trick-or-treat village at South Base featuring free scary movie showings, face painting, pumpkin decorating, and surprises from local vendors. For a truly terrifying experience, join us at dusk for a chilling chairlift ride – if you dare! Scare Disclosure: If you have little ones who are easily frightened, we recommend planning to ride the chairlift before dusk (3:00 – 6:00 pm), as it’ll be a high scare factor once the sun sets. At the base area, the festival itself is suited for all ages.”
