FIREWORKS ON JULY 4TH: Our “summer opening season” is July, and the 4th is right around the corner! Come on up and enjoy the festivities! Almost every town has a 4th celebration here in the Truckee, North Tahoe area including West Shore, Incline Village and Truckee. Later in the summer, Sand Harbor also hosts the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival. A must see even in an amazing setting!
GOLF – If golf is your game, then Reno/ Tahoe is your place. The Reno/Tahoe Open is one of just 47 PGA TOUR events worldwide and held at at the stunning Montreux Golf & Country Club at the base of Mount Rose in NV. South Lake Tahoe also plays host to the American Century Championship Cup, where 80 pro athletes and Hollywood celebrities compete for their share of a $600,000 purse on the beautiful Edgewood golf course.
RENO FAMILY EVENTS: Reno also plays host too many great events throughout the summer, The Great Reno Balloon race, Best of the West Rib Cook off, The National Championship Air Races, Hot August nights, and also Street Vibrations. And let’s not forget Burning Man! An event like none other, the Black Rock Desert plays host to over 50,000 people for one week of art and music in a surreal setting.
FITNESS: If endurance is what you are looking for Tahoe will challenge your heart and lungs. The Reno Tahoe Odyssey where a relay team will try to finish the 178 mile course of Continuous running, starting one day and ending the next, until each runner has run 3 legs on a course that begins and ends at 4490 feet and reaches a maximum elevation of 7334. Do you have what it takes to complete the Xterra Lake Tahoe? Racers start with a swim in famous Lake Tahoe, one of the purest and deepest lakes in North America. The bike section test racers’ climbing and fitness levels. The bike starts up tunnel creek, a somewhat sandy gradual climb. Racers pop out from tunnel creek onto the area’s famous Flume Trail, which skirts the mountain side overlooking Lake Tahoe. Riders continue on past Marlette Lake and down a rocky and fast Tahoe Rim Trail. The views are breathtaking! Both the Short and Long course complete the 22 mile bike with approximately 4000 feet of climbing. After the biking section racers transition onto a trail running course that is relatively flat, fast and scenic with tall pines, aspens, and creek crossings.
