Tahoe Vista
Although one of the smallest towns in North Lake Tahoe, don’t let the one traffic light deceive you. Tahoe Vista packs a mighty punch in the summer time and heralds some of the most coveted shoreline and lakefront real estate in the entire Lake Tahoe basin. With three premier beaches, crowds flock here to stretch their water sport muscles, from their very own private docks, or a short walk nearby – sometimes just a jaunt across the street!
Tahoe Vista has historically been an eclectic neighborhood of mom and pop motels, comfy bed and breakfasts, and other picturesque vacation lodging options. But in recent years, this lakefront community has undergone noticeable re-development, with Tonopalo as the token lakefront real estate community and Vista Pines constructing a small division of luxury homes on the mountain-side of the main road. Today you will still find a dizzying array of lodging options, but choose from a mountain or lakeside home, or condominium, and expect many unbelievably sunrise and sunsets here.
You may now gather Tahoe Vista is a lake lover’s dream. Tahoe Vista Recreation Area hosts lake access recreation, a sheltered boat launching facility, picnic facilities, restroom facilities, and a chance to rent kayaks or stand up paddleboards from Tahoe Adventure Company, located on-site. Moon Dunes and Sandy Beach offer a stretch of beach that is generally packed in the summer time – the best place to pack a cooler, beach toys, and don’t forget the umbrella! Take a stroll to the local ice cream shop, and delight in your treat with a stunning view of South Lake Tahoe in the distance.
Tahoe Vista is not just for the summer minded. In the winter, join others at any of the Full Moon Snowshoe Tours or cross country skiing at North Tahoe Regional Park, just north of the lake. Centrally located, Tahoe Vista is only a short drive to Northstar California Resort, Alpine Meadows, Squaw Valley, or head east into Incline Village, Nevada and explore Diamond Peak Resort.
The breadth of shoreline at Tahoe Vista is simply enough to entice even the greatest of mountain enthusiasts!
