Just when it felt like spring was coming too early to the High Sierra, El Nino came back for another visit with the biggest storm of the season to date. It was a quick storm that left behind over two feet of power throughout the region’s 18 ski resorts. Even those who live at Lake level found themselves shoveling over a foot of snow while high elevation resorts did their best to clear over two feet of the white stuff out of the parking lots that then welcomed record crowds.
The resort reports are in: Sugar Bowl reported a storm total of 29” and Boreal 25.” Squaw reported 30” as did while Northstar while Alpine Meadows received 23”. Tahoe Donner received 36”.
With spring break in the forecast, resorts are preparing their slopes and services for what will be, without question, one great way to celebrate winter finally returning to the slopes and trails throughout Lake Tahoe.
