What’s New at Truckee Lake Tahoe Ski Resorts

There’s a long list of improvements at Squaw and Alpine this year which we are sure you will enjoy all winter long!

~ At Alpine Meadows ~

A new chairlift called “Treeline Cirque” that will take you from the base of the resort to a selection of advanced or intermediate terrain in less than five minutes. This 10-million-dollar investment includes a new mid-station for the lower intermediate skier.  Once you are at the top, you can drop into some of your favorite expert runs and bowls on the front side or over to our favorite spots off the Sherwood ridge.

According to their press release, the new Treeline Cirque is “in a protected alignment which makes it favorable in high winds and inclement weather, and the rapid access from the base area will dramatically improve the skier experience for a wide range of ability levels. “

~ At Squaw Valley ~

Every year we hear about new adventures that are available for those of us who just want to get out and ski and board in new and undiscovered terrain.  Thanks to the North Face Mountain Guides program you will be able to spend time with professional guides who know the resort’s “most coveted’ terrain.”  The resort notes that in addition to getting access to “secret stashes and hidden groomers,” this tour is locally admired for one’s ability to get priority lift line access and first tracks for those big pow days.

At the base of the mountain, check in to Alpenglow Expeditions programs that are set for this year.  You will want to explore the opportunity to enjoy a day of snowshoeing with professionals guiding the way through Shirley Canyon.    

Northstar California

 A recent news article explained the resorts’ new “parking management plan.”

According to the press release, resort officials tell us that “the overall plan will preserve and maximize the resort’s parking capacity while expediting incoming traffic and reducing congestion on Northstar Drive, ultimately improving the guest experience.” 
 
“It is our priority to provide the best possible experience for our guests and their families,” said Deirdra Walsh, vice president, and general manager of Northstar California. “Through a conscious decision to control our parking resources, we expect to significantly reduce traffic flow on Northstar Drive, which will ultimately improve our parking and transportation experience for guests.”

Another new news tip from off the slopes is their hiring of renowned chef and restauranteur Michale Mina who is in the works to ‘reinvent pub faire’ to the base of Big Spring Gondola.  Bourbon Pub Northstar could be our next fave spot to soak in the Sierra fun while enjoying “truffle tater tots” and other soon-to-be devoured delights!
