We just love this time of the year. The skies are clear, the temps a bit cooler, and the hustle and bustle of our international destination takes on a slower pace for all to enjoy. This fall, we encourage you and your family to head to the High Sierra to take advantage of what we believe is one the best times to enjoy the great outdoors in and around our home town.
If you happen to be close by to our real estate office in Truckee, CA we’d be delighted to share more details about we like to do with our families as the fall season makes its presence once again.

NEW ELECTRIC MOUNTAIN BIKE TOURS AT SQUAW
(Photo courtesy of Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows / Elevated Image Photography)
Just this past week, Squaw Valley introduced Electric Bike Tours. This is by far one of our favorite new ‘must-do’s’ in Truckee/Tahoe. The tour starts at High Camp. You could hike to the Camp, yet with a 2.5-hour tour in front of you we suggest you take the Aerial Tram.
According to their recent press release, here’s what can expect.
“The guide provides tips while leading a group of up to 10 guests over scenic high alpine trails with panoramic views of Lake Tahoe and the Sierra Nevada. The price for the tour is $158, including rental e-bike, helmet, biking gloves and unlimited Aerial Tram access to High Camp. The price of the tour without Aerial Tram access is $109, and guests can bring their own e-bike and join the tour for $69. Tour guests must be at least 13 years of age. Tours will be offered on weekends only through Sept. 22, weather and conditions permitting. Mountain biking access on the mountain at Squaw Valley is limited to tour guests only.”

TAKE THE FAMILY ON A HIKE
From Lake Tahoe’s highest peaks to the famous Pacific Crest Trail, there are miles and miles of options to leave your busy life behind and find your own place of paradise to explore.
If you’re in the area of Squaw Valley, be sure to cross a day off to hike one of the mountain’s well marked trails. The best way to get started is to upload the new interactive Squaw | Alpine summer app. Here you will see a variety of options for all ability levels.
We like to go to Watson Monument at Emigrant Peak. Another favorite is taking our entire family to the dog-friendly Shirley Canyon Trail. The sights of the mountain’s iconic granite boulders and late season wildflowers are worth every step. Pack a picnic, too, and unplug and unwind along Shirley Lake.
For a guided tour, check out these local adventure companies that we have showcased before and still highly recommend.

DISC GOLF ANYONE?
Here’s another great way to get out and enjoy the fall season in Truckee/Tahoe. If you have yet to try Disc Golf, this is the time to do so while the weather is still your favor. There are three Disc Golf Courses on the Northern end of the Lake and in Truckee as well. All are well maintained and offer challenging courses for the novice to the most advanced.
North Tahoe Regional Park
Wrapped in and around the forest at this Regional Park, the Lake of the Sky Course continues to get rave reviews. “A solid course with some great trees, good lines, some good walking/hiking and a few holes with views down to Lake Tahoe. I’d gladly play again.” According to the comments, this park is well respected for quality equipment and upkeep, as well as its very affordable $3 parking fee (for non-residents of NTPUD).
Ask any local about this course and you will put this one on your list. Well known as “challenging but still forgiving,” the course is as enjoyable as the scenery as it runs along the Truckee River. They also note that the landscaping is all natural with Sage running throughout. As such, it’s recommended that you wear long pants or long sox – as well as a good pair of hiking boots.
Take the Aerial Tram to this free course which is located mid-mountain at Squaw. And be sure to make the time to take a few pics as the scenery of the surrounding ski resort and mountain ranges are sure to distract you in all the right ways!
But wait, there’s more! Head on down to the Resort at Squaw Creek and try a round of “Foot Golf” with the entire family.

No matter what your ‘top things to do’ in Truckee/Tahoe may be this fall,
we encourage you to make the time to enjoy one of the local’s favorite season for so many good reasons!
