Squaw Valley is the host resort for 2014 Nature Valley U.S. Alpine Championships March 19 – 23, 2014. With a local record of U.S. Ski Team alumni that is unrivalled, coupled with a Renaissance that places Squaw Valley on par with the world’s greatest winter destinations the stage is set for a competition of grand importance. Squaw welcomes the athletes, coaches and U.S. Ski Team staff and invites spectators for an action packed week-on and off the snow.
Following an incredibly successful Nature Valley U.S. Alpine Championships that brought thousands of fans to Squaw Valley last year, the annual event is returning to the 1960 Olympic Mountain to close the 2014 Olympic Winter Games season. The March 19-23 championships will feature Julia Mancuso (Squaw Valley, CA), Ted Ligety (Park City, UT), Lindsey Vonn (Vail, CO), Bode Miller (Franconia, NH) and Mikaela Shiffrin (Eagle-Vail, CO) and serve as a celebration of the 2014 U.S. Ski Team in addition to hundreds of aspiring Olympians from U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association club programs across the country.
Squaw Valley
Host of the 1960 Winter Olympics, Squaw Valley is internationally renowned for legendary terrain that spans 3,600 skiable acres, six peaks and 30 chairlifts, and ranges from an expansive mountaintop beginner area to unrivaled expert steeps, trees and bowls. Off the mountain, families relax in The Village at Squaw Valley around the cozy fire pits or enjoy a host of restaurants, bars, boutiques and art galleries.
Alpine Meadows
Ranked as a top winter resort by SKI Magazine, Alpine Meadows is known for its abundant and varied skiable terrain, family-friendly atmosphere, and innovative children’s ski and snowboard programs. Alpine’s seven powder bowls, summit-to-base groomed slopes, and authentic hospitality are among the many attributes that have made the resort a favorite of the local community and visitors alike. Alpine Meadows offers skiers and riders access to more than 100 trails across 2,400 skiable acres serviced by 14 lifts.
The Lake Tahoe area has produced some of the greatest Olympians in the history of the games. We congratulate the local competitors: Julia Mancuso, Marco Sullivan and Travis Ganong on their accomplishments and wish them success at their home mountain
