February 16th, 2013 in Johnsville ski hill, Eureka State Park Plumas County The US Snowshoe Association has chosen Plumas Eureka State Park and Johnsville Historic Ski Bowl for the 2013 California State Championships. 5k and 10k races are planned and are open to the public. Johnsville plays host to an annual winter Snowfest February 16-18th and with a long list of events for the whole family, including a snow carnival, Johnsville historic longboard series, and the 17th Annual Portola rotary snowmobile poker run. The addition of the snowshoe races will make a great event even better!

The course will be a lap course starting at the famous Longboards lodge (one of the first ski areas in the Sierra Nevada’s), the course will begin with a nearly one mile gradual climb to Eureka lake. Here the course will navigate around the lake and head up and over a saddle. An initial steep descent is followed by a rolling downhill through the woods all the way back to the lodge. This lap will be done twice for the 10km.
