The third annual Lost Sierra Hoedown is a weekend of simple sustainable living, and human-produced music you can dance to: folk, country, bluegrass, and Americana. This hoedown will raise funds and awareness for the re-opening of Johnsville Historic Ski Bowl.
The Johnsville Ski Bowl, 50 miles north of Truckee, is considered to be the birthplace of skiing in California. Miners started one of the first longboard ski clubs in the late 1800′s. The Ski Bowl, now a part of Plumas Eureka State Park, operated until 2003, relying on Poma lifts purchased from Squaw Valley and the Rainbow Lodge. Efforts to revive the ski hill and preserve the history of skiing at Johnsville has been an ongoing effort since 2008. A number of fundraising efforts have continued to keep the dream alive.
There’s an incredible line-up of musical talent for the weekend, including small local bands, some well-known regional bands and some artists on the verge of becoming very well known. The headline acts will include Haunted Windchimes, Miner, Sneaky Creatures, and Good Luck Thrift Store Outfit. To see a lineup click here. The music starts Thursday September 24th afternoon at 4:30 and goes through 11pm. And starts up again on Saturday around 11:00am and continues till 11pm. And then finishes up on Sunday September 27st. Tickets can be purchased here.
This is a great event for the whole family to enjoy. Included with your ticket is also a camping permit to camp onsite. Children under 12 are free. Check out their website for any more information. See you there!
